Types of Waste and Impacts on Health

Unwittingly, hazardous waste is all around us. Various types of waste can pollute water, soil, to the air we breathe, and can have a negative impact on health. Waste can be found anywhere. Starting from household waste, offices, industry, or vehicle fumes on the highway. Sadly, because we have "encountered" we meet, often this problem is no longer taken seriously. For example, when we pass or even live in the vicinity of a landfill site, we may only be disturbed by the unpleasant odor and take it lightly, when in fact there are dangers that secretly lurk in the health of the body.

Air Waste

Air waste can cause air pollution. Smoke and particulates are two types of air waste that can endanger health. Especially particulates, because of its shape in the form of fine particles, making it difficult to be seen by the naked eye. Without us knowing it, particulates can be inhaled and cause dangerous diseases. Particulates come from diesel engine exhausts, wood burning, and coal-fired power plants. Whereas smoke waste generally comes from small vehicles. This smoke or particulate waste in air pollution can cause various impacts on health, such as:
  • Lung disorders, heart attacks, heart failure and strokes. These diseases are commonly found in areas with high levels of air pollution.
  • In pregnant women, can harm the fetus in the womb. For example, affecting fetal brain development, so it has the possibility of experiencing ADHD or better known as hyperactivity.

Landfill Waste (TPA)

Not only the odor, this landfill also has long-term effects, including:
  • Potential to trigger several types of cancer, fetal disability, premature babies, or babies born with underweight. However, location of residence is not the only factor that could be the cause. Until now, it is still uncertain whether these conditions are related to toxic chemicals found in the landfill.
  • Water pollution caused by landfill waste can have a negative impact on health. Residents who live around the landfill are at risk of developing hepatitis, cholera, giardiasis, and blue baby syndrome (methemoglobinemia), due to consuming polluted water. Even some substances, such as benzene, which are known to be carcinogenic or can cause cancer, can also pollute the water around the landfill site.

Waste in water

Wastewater is water that has been contaminated with anthropogenic. Waste that pollutes water can come from human waste, septic tank disposal, factory waste disposal, waste water from the rest of the washing, and much more. Water that has been contaminated with this waste can cause various diseases, such as:
  • Diarrhea, if you consume water that is contaminated with bacteria or parasites. Severe diarrhea can lead to death.
  • Methemoglobinemia or blue baby syndrome, if you consume drinking water that is contaminated with nitrates, or high in nitrate content.
  • Infectious diseases, such as hepatitis A, cholera, and giardiasis, when consuming water that is contaminated with bacteria and viruses.
  • Kidney disease, liver disease, and the risk of birth defects.
Whether visible or invisible, waste still has a negative impact on health. It might not be felt immediately, but it will have negative effects in the long run. In order to reduce or even eliminate the threat of hazard from waste, good waste management and awareness are needed to maintain environmental cleanliness.

Premature Puberty in Children

Puberty is a time when a child experiences growth into adulthood. Puberty usually occurs at age 11 years in girls and 12 years in boys. But premature puberty can also occur in children, this phenomenon is often known as early puberty. Precocious puberty or early puberty usually occurs earlier than the average age, between 7-8 years in girls and 9 years in boys. This early puberty causes a number of physical, psychological, and behavioral changes in the child. Causes of Puberty Before Time Precocious puberty in children can be caused by the following things: Gender Girls are 10 times more likely to experience puberty prematurely than boys. Obesity Research reveals obesity in children is thought to result in premature puberty, especially in girls. High body mass index (BMI) in obese children causes an increase in the hormone leptin. This hormone is thought to trigger the development of puberty more quickly. However, further research is needed to support this statement. E

Priapism occurs when blood flowing into the blood vessels of the penis does not fully return. Penile disease is usually caused by drug and alcohol abuse, blood disease (anemia), genital injury, disorders of the spinal cord, or consumption of certain drugs. This medical emergency must be treated immediately because prolonged erect

Reasons for Keeping Children from Cigarette Smoke

Secondhand smoke exposed to secondhand smoke is more dangerous than that smoked by active smokers. Especially children and babies, they are the most vulnerable group if exposed to cigarette smoke. Exposure to cigarette smoke can increase the risk of various health problems and diseases. Infants and children who are exposed to cigarette smoke are at high risk of eye irritation, ear infections, allergies, asthma, bronchitis, pneumonia, meningitis, and sudden infant death syndrome. Keep Cigarette Smoke Right Now Cigarettes have a very high effectiveness in spreading toxic chemicals. If smoked in the house, then your whole house will be full of toxic substances, such as nicotine, carbon monoxide, and cancer-triggering substances (carcinogens). Worse, all these substances are not only in the location you smoke. All rooms in the house, including children's and baby's rooms, are at risk of being polluted by various substances that are harmful to the body. In addition to its wid
